Biomechanics

Animals inhabit a variety of environments, in which they contend with their surroundings to move. We’re interested in how animals can control their bodies and/or limbs to generate motion.

In this lab, we use a combination of in vivo experiments with robots that serve as models to study the interaction between a locomotor and its environment.

Centipede LOcomotion

Centipedes can locomote through a myriad of substrates. The coordination between the many limbs and their bodies depends on their immediate surroundings. We explore the interplay between these, and how they affect locomotion performance.
